AMC Conjures Up Halloween Promo

Woodbury, N.Y. -- American Movie Classics is hoping that
its new "Monsterfest" campaign -- aimed at affiliates and subscribers -- will
scare up ratings and public attention this fall.

The promotion, keyed to Halloween, focuses on both
programming and marketing, and it features a movie marathon of horror films on Halloween
weekend and a "Monsterstakes" sweepstakes. In the contest, AMC will reward the
winning family with the chance to get themselves and their house made over for Halloween
by Hollywood special-effects experts, as well as with a trip to New York to visit Madison
"Scare" Garden.

AMC is also launching a marketing contest for affiliates,
asking system employees from around the country to submit ideas by July 30 for an original
"Monsterfest" promotion that they plan to implement. AMC has created a
promotional kit for affiliates designed to offer co-branding promotional opportunities in
local markets.

AMC's director of affiliate marketing, Bonnie Boyle,
said in a prepared statement that the network believes that the promotion will allow local
affiliates to become "part of the fabric of the Halloween tradition" in their
hometowns.
