AMC Extends American Cinematheque Pact

AMC will be the exclusive broadcast partner of American Cinematheque through 2006 following a two-year extension announced Wednesday.

American Cinematheque described itself as “a nonprofit, viewer-supported film-exhibition and cultural organization dedicated to the celebration of the moving picture in all of its forms.”

“This tribute is a celebration of movies and the people who make them, and as a destination for movies and movie culture, it makes perfect sense that AMC will continue to be the exclusive broadcast partner of the American Cinematheque,” senior vice president of programming and production Rob Sorcher said in a prepared statement.

“The event has become one of the industry’s most prestigious celebrity outings, and AMC’s unique presentation spotlights the talent and creativity that go into making our favorite movies and provides viewers with an intimate, all-access view of our industry at its best,” he added.
