AMC Networks, Suddenlink Reach Carriage Accord, Avert License-Fee Disconnect

Suddenlink Communications subscribers no longer need to fear the Ides of March where AMC Networks programming is concerned.

The programmer, whose stable of services comprises AMC, Sundance Channel, IFC and WeTV, has reached a carriage renewal with Suddenlink. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, averts a potential service disruption for the quartet of networks, as their contract was set to expire at midnight on March 15.

The carriage contract also ensures that Suddenlink subscribers will not miss the sophomore season finale of AMC's popular zombie series The Walking Dead.

"We're pleased to have reached a new, long-term agreement with Suddenlink for AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel and We TV that recognizes the value and popularity of our programming, AMC Networks said in announcing the new accord. "In addition to maintaining our long and successful partnership with Suddenlink, we look forward to continuing to bring Suddenlink customers our popular, award-winning shows, including the second season finale of AMC's The Walking Dead on Sunday, March 18, the highly-anticipated season premiere of AMC's Mad Men on Sunday, March 25, and We TVs Braxton Family Values."

For its part, the cable operator listed this message on its SuddenlinkFYI.com website Wednesday afternoon:

"Suddenlink is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement in principle on a long-term contract with AMC Networks. As a result, there will be no disruption or change to our customers' current service. The new agreement covers all of the channels covered under the prior agreement, including AMC, IFC, Sundance, and We TV. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. Suddenlink thanks its customers for their patience and support during the negotiations leading up to this agreement."
