AMC Renews ‘The Son’ For Second Season

AMC has renewed its Western-themed series The Son for a sophomore campaign, the network said Friday.

The series, which stars Pierce Brosnan and chronicles the exploits of a Texas ranching and oil family, will return for a second season in 2018, said network officials.

The first season of the series is currently averaging 2.3 million viewers according to the network. The series is produced by AMC Studios and Sonar Entertainment, and is executively produced by Philipp Meyer, Lee Shipman, Brian McGreevy, Kevin Murphy, Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni.

The Son proudly continues our Westerns tradition at AMC, including Broken Trail, Hell on Wheels and decades of films from The Duke, Clint and so many more,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “We are so pleased to add to that list another season of our original, multi-generational drama from Philipp Meyer, Kevin Murphy and a remarkable cast led by the incomparable Pierce Brosnan.”
