American Movie Classics will phase out its current on-air look and logo --
and name -- Oct. 1, when the network's new tag line, 'TV for Movie People,'
replaces 'Great Movies. And the Stories Behind Them.'
At a press luncheon, AMC Networks president Katie McEnroe and executive vice
president and general manager Noreen O'Loughlin said the various IDs, promotion
spots, interstitials and other on-air materials will break shortly after
midnight Sept. 30. The interstitials will feature real people talking about
O'Loughlin added that a related off-channel image campaign -- using
television, out-of-home and print -- may break in February or March.
The on-air package, with some elements still in editing, was created by New
York-based Trollback & Co.
Original programming inspired by AMC's transition to being more contemporary
in its movie offerings will be announced starting in October or November,
