Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile Sign onto Amdocs Billing Platform

Amdocs says it has been contracted by Comcast and Charter to provide ordering, billing and monetization software support for the cable operators’ respective mobile services, Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum Mobile.

Amdocs will supply systems spanning multi-channel sales, ordering, care and monetization. Amdocs did not disclose the terms of these multi-year deals. The vendor also didn't say how long it's already been working with these mobile services.

Comcast and Charter, which both base their consumer wireless businesses on wholesale network usage agreements with Verizon, collaborate closely on issues related to technology and business systems.

Amdocs made its announcement in the form of two distinct press releases.

For Xfinity Mobile, it said that “the Comcast and Amdocs DevOps teams work collaboratively to launch new mobile offers and service enhancements via agile methodologies that drive increased business value and economics and provide a simpler and more consistent digital customer experience.”

As far as Charter is concerned, Amdocs said that it’s “suite of integrated and modular solutions will help Charter increase time to market of new Spectrum Mobile service offers and bundles that enhance the consumer experience.”

Comcast said Xfinity Mobile added 181,000 service lines in the second quarter, bringing its total to 1.5 million lines after a little more than two years on the market.

Charter said Spectrum Mobile added 208,000 lines in the second quarter, bringing it to 518,000 lines since launching at the end of June of last year.
