Amphenol Corp. said Wednesday that third-quarter earnings per share rose 47% to 47 cents versus 32 cents in the year-ago quarter.
Sales jumped 22% to $384.103 million from the third-quarter-2003 figure of $314.798 million.
For the first nine months of 2004, diluted earnings per share were $1.31 compared with $0.89 in the year-earlier period, and sales were $1.126 billion versus $897.465 million.
“The cable-products segment of our business -- which is primarily for broadband cable-television networks and represents 13% of our sales -- was also up a strong 13% over the prior year,” Amphenol chairman and CEO Martin H. Loeffler said in a prepared statement.
“In addition, the operating-income margin in this segment strengthened as price increases implemented in the latter part of the second quarter partially offset the impact of higher material costs,” he added.
