Westerville, Ohio -- Ameritech New Media launched its
Americast cable service in two more Ohio locations last week.
The MSO rolled out service in Westerville, a suburb of
11,000 households near Columbus, where it will compete against Time Warner Cable; and
Strongsville, a town of 16,000 homes outside of Cleveland, which is served by Cablevision
Company officials said the Strongsville system is
particularly significant as it represents Ameritech Corp.'s cable arm's 10th activated
system in the Cleveland area -- a region that has been slow to embrace competition.
"It's taken a while to hit double-digits in the
Cleveland area," ANM spokesman Geoff Potter said, noting that the MSO has 26 systems
operating in the Columbus area, 14 in and around Chicago and 39 in the Detroit suburbs.
Overall, ANM has 88 systems activated in three states and
103 franchises to serve 1.7 million homes.
ANM is offering new Westerville and Strongsville
subscribers $100 in free groceries.
