Apple TV+ Hires Former Lionsgate Marketing Exec DePalma

Apple TV+ is ramping up its marketing team ahead of its fall launch, hiring former Lionsgate digital marketing executive Danielle DePalma.

Having reportedly departed her role as executive VP of worldwide digital marketing and research at Lionsgate in January, DePalma will report to Chris Van Amburg, Apple’s head of video marketing, out of Apple’s Culver City, Calif. studio.

DePalma is known for spearheading successful digital and social marketing campaigns for Lionsgate’s Hunger Games franchise, as well as films like Kickass.

DePalma’s hiring was reported by the Hollywood trades as Apple has posted no less than a dozen job ads on LinkedIn, seeking various production and creative services personnel for its Culver City TV and film operation.

Last month, Apple held a start-studded event on its Cupertino, Calif. campus to present some of the originals it’s working on for its new Apple TV+ subscription service.

Included on the slate is The Morning Show, which will star Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as perky network early-a.m. TV hosts.

Also showcased was See, a futuristic sci-fi series, featuring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard, and set in a post-apocalyptic world in which all humans have lost eye sight.

Stephen Spielberg was also on hand at the March 25 event to show off his new fantasy series Amazing Stories
