Arbitron Disinvites Nielsen from PPM Trial


Arbitron Inc. has withdrawn its invitation for Nielsen Media Research to participate in the day-to-day operations of a market trial of “Portable People Meters” in Houston, Arbitron officials said Friday.

Arbitron is on schedule to recruit a 2,100-person PPM panel in Houston by the end of June. In September, it would release comparisons of station-level TV-audience measurements from July PPM data to Nielsen meter/diary estimates for that month.

Nielsen will still provide access to its meter-diary TV-audience estimates in Houston so that those numbers can be compared with the PPM data.
