Arris Group has taken a minority stake in privately held Rev2, a provider of risk-analysis software for network infrastructure, and Arris will co-market Rev2's software as part its wider portfolio of management solutions for cable operators.
The amount of Arris's investment was not disclosed. At the 2012 Cable Show last month, the two companies demonstrated the Rev2 RiskView Outage Risk Analytics system working with Arris's ServAssure Advanced performance management solution and the Arris WorkAssure workforce management solution.
Rev2 also announced that chief technology officer Robert Cruickshank III, a former Cablevision Systems customer care and network operations executive, has been promoted to CEO.
Rev2's founder and former CEO, Lou Steinberg, joined TD Ameritrade as CTO in July 2011. For the near term, Cruickshank will serve as both CEO and CTO.
"The Arris Group's co-marketing commitment will help us expand the scope of RiskView and continue our market momentum," Cruickshank said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have Arris on board as a strategic investor and are looking forward to working with them to help our mutual customers proactively optimize their operations while they reduce costs and complexity."
Rev2's RiskView Risk Concentration Analysis software is designed to identify, compare and quantify vulnerabilities across a network infrastructure before they affect business performance. The Valhalla, N.Y.-based company has 15 employees and part-time consultants.
