Arris Renews Cox Contract

Arris got a huge shot in the arm by announcing a five-year, $500 million
cable-telephony deal with Cox Communications Inc.

The contract renewal continues Arris' exclusivity in Cox's local telephony
markets, Arris said, and grants exclusivity for Arris' 'Touchstone Telephony
Port' and embedded multimedia-terminal adapter for future outdoor
deployments.

The deal also allows Cox to update software in Arris host digital terminals
as software releases are developed.

'We expect the Touchstone Telephony Port to provide us the same high
performance and reliability in IP [Internet protocol] applications that we have
experienced in the `Cornerstone Voice Port' for outdoor, network-powered
applications,' Cox vice president of telephony engineering Albert Young
said.
