ATHF Feature Signs a Distributor

Cartoon Network said the theatrical film of Adult Swim show Aqua Teen Hunger Force, to be released in March, will be distributed by First Look Pictures.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters will be the first animated release in theaters, the Turner Broadcasting System-owned network said, and it marks Adult swim’s first feature under the Williams Street banner (named after the network’s Atlanta headquarters location).

The show stars three animated fast-food items: Meatwad, Frylock and Master Shake. Adult Swim, Cartoon’s adult-aimed programming block, described the movie as “an action-adventure epic that reveals the mysterious origins of Meatwad, Frylock and Master Shake. When an immortal piece of exercise equipment threatens the balance of galactic peace, it is up to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force to run away from it. Peril escalates when the Plutonians team up with the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past to strive for ultimate control of the sinister deadly device.”

Independently owned First Look’s latest release was The Dead Girl, starring Toni Collette, Marcia Gay Harden, Brittany Murphy and Mary Beth Hurt. It opened in New York and Los Angeles in December and will be released nationally this month.
