Atlantic Broadband Raises Internet Speeds

Atlantic Broadband has teed up some speed increases as part of “FastForward Miami,” a $6.3 million initiative announced in July 2016 focused on Miami Beach several surrounding areas.

The phase announced today will enable a new residential tier, called Pro Edge, that delivers 250 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up while also bumping speeds of existing broadband subs that will be implemented in the coming months. Atlantic Broadband is also preparing to roll out 1-Gig services by August 2017.

Here’s how the new speeds tiers stack up:

Residential

-Pro Basic (25 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up)

-Pro Advantage (50/10)

-Pro Power (120/15)

-Pro Edge (250/20)

Business

-Starter Plus (25/5)

-Express Plus (100/10)

-Unleashed Plus (250/20)

FastForward Miami also tacks on the addition of 58 SD and/or HD channels, pushing the MSO’s total past 400, along with an increase in Spanish-language and international channels.

Atlantic Broadband, a unit of Cogeco Communications, has 246,000 video subs in Western Pennsylvania, Miami Beach, Maryland/Delaware, Aiken, S.C., and Eastern Connecticut.
