AT&T, BellSouth to File Merger Docs

AT&T Inc. and BellSouth Corp. were expected to file documents Friday related to their proposed $67 billion merger with the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission, AP reported.

Both telcos will also file documents with states around the country where they do business, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission, AP reported.

According to the SEC filing, the DOJ and the FCC have a 180-day window to make their decisions on the transaction, which is expected to close by March 2007, AP reported.

The deal was announced March 5.
