AT&T Broadband and Comcast Corp. have filed their $72 billion merger
with the Federal Communications Commission, a Comcast spokeswoman said Friday.
'I can confirm that we filed,' the spokeswoman said.
An FCC spokeswoman said the agency received the merger filing Thursday
night.
The merger, announced in December, would be the largest cable merger ever,
giving the new company at least 22 million subscribers.
The merger requires the approval of the FCC and the
Department of Justice. DOJ officials recently asked the companies to file
additional information in support of the deal.
