AT&T to Launch HDTV in Chicago


New Orleans -- AT&T Broadband will launch high-definition television
service to customers in the Chicago area this summer.

The company will offer HDTV feeds of Home Box Office, Showtime, NBC and Fox
to digital-cable customers in areas that have been upgraded to 750

In order to receive the HDTV signals, subscribers will require digital-cable
set-top boxes and special decoders. The equipment will be available for lease
for $10.95 per month, the company said in a prepared statement.

AT&T Broadband will add additional high-definition programming in Chicago
in the future, and it plans to offer HDTV in other markets later this year, the
company said.
