AT&T/DirecTV, NBC Sports Team to Offer Select Premier League Games in 4K

NBC Sports Group and AT&T are connecting to offer a batch of Premier League games in 4K to eligible DirecTV subscribers, starting with the Saturday (Jan. 21) match between Manchester City and Tottenham, set to kick off at 12:30 p.m. ET.

DirecTV will offer that fixture in 4K on channel 106, and follow with Sunday’s match between Arsenal and Burnley, which starts at 9:15 a.m. ET.

For the rest of the current Premier League season, NBC Sports Group plans to offer “select” Premier League matches in 4K via DirecTV. The games will also be offered via DirecTV in SD and HD on NBC and on NBCSN.

NBC Sports Group and DirecTV previously offered several of Notre Dame football games and select coverage of the Rio Olympic Games in 4K.

To get the 4K feeds, DirecTV subs need a Genie HD DVR (model HR54 or later), a DirecTV Ready TV or a 4K TV connected to a 4K Genie Mini, and must be subscribed to DirecTV’s Select package or higher.

“We’re excited to continue our commitment to provide fans with unprecedented coverage of the Premier League by offering matches in 4K this season on DIRECTV,” Jon Miller, President of Programming for NBC Sports and NBCSN, said in a statement.

“Premier League action in the stunning detail and color of 4K UHD on DIRECTV will be a pitch perfect viewing experience, whether you’re a devoted or occasional fan of the game,” added Dan York, chief content officer for AT&T.
