The National Cable & Telecommunications Association said Friday that 17,000 people attended its annual convention in San Francisco, down slightly from the 17,100 attendees that attended last year’s confab.

Exhibit space increased 14% to 190,500 square feet.

The 2006 National Show will be held in New Orleans May 21-24.

The NCTA’s board of directors elected Comcast Corp. chairman Brian Roberts as NCTA chairman at the convention in San Francisco. He’ll succeed Time Warner Cable chairman Glenn Britt for a one-year term.
