Auditions Start for Season Two of Univision's 'Va Por Tí'

On Dec. 7, 2014, Yazaira López was declared the season-one winner of Univision’s singing competition series Va Por Tí.

With 43% of the votes, the young Puerto Rican winner of the Televisa and Univision co-production won a recording contract with Warner Music and a $50,000 cash prize.

Starting this week, the show starts its search for its season-two champion. Va Por Tí will return to Univision on a to-be-announced date this summer.

Open auditions for season two will start on April 9 at the JW Marriott Chicago and continue on April 16 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown and April 23 at The Westin New York Grand Central. Participants are asked to pre-register at VaPorTi.com and must be at least 18 years old.

"Expert scouts" in music and talent will be at the auditions, Univision said.

Va Por Ti follows a similar format to American Idol and The Voice, with celebrity judges and Latin recording artists called "capitans" serving as mentors for each group of contestants.

Galilea Montijo will return as host of the show that gives one gifted singer the chance to realize their dream of becoming the next Latin music star.

The series began its first series with 28 candidates, divided into three teams led by popular Latin recording artists Dulce María, El Dasa and Jencarlos Canela. The network hasn’t said if those artists will return for season two.
