Australia's Channel Nine Taps OpenTV

OpenTV Corp.’s interactive-TV headend solutions are headed down under.

The vendor said Monday that it has reached a license agreement with Australian free-to-air broadcaster Channel Nine to initially install two OpenTV headend solutions consisting of “OpenTV Streamer” and “OpenTV H20.”

After the deployment, Channel Nine will be able to broadcast just once to multiple platforms with different standards, providing viewers with the opportunity to enjoy all of the network's program offerings, OpenTV said.

“We are excited to provide Channel Nine with a selection of solutions designed to create effective digital-TV platforms with compelling interactive-TV experiences," OpenTV senior vice president of worldwide sales and managing director, Asia-Pacific Mike Ivanchenko said in a prepared statement.

"This agreement lays the groundwork for OpenTV to further support Channel Nine with innovative interactive technologies and applications,” he added.
