Avail-TVN Scores NFL Network Extension

Avail-TVN has scored a contract extension with NFL Network.

The agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, expands the scope of the relationship to the entire industry, including delivery to an additional 17 million video-on-demand-enabled homes, while incorporating advanced asset and metadata management services.

The digital media service company will continue to be NFLN's primary provider of VOD services with continued support of their highly time- sensitive games and additional content packages.

Subscribers have access to a wide variety of NFL content including library fare like NFL Films archived packages, classic NFL games, NFL Network shows, season-in-review shows and sub-packages by the 32 team markets.

They also can access "NFL Replay" product -- short highlights of all NFL regular season and post-season games, as well as "NFL Blitz" materials like highlights of NFL preseason, regular season and playoff matchups.
As for themed assets, Avail-TVN also transfers such content as seasonal shows focusing on NFL combine and draft vignettes, fantasy football and season previews, playoff contests, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl action, plus season reviews for all 32 clubs.
"NFL fans want more football and greater access to their favorite teams," said Anna Petitti, department head, affiliate partnership group of NFL Network, in a statement. "Avail-TVN is the industry leader and by partnering with them we are confident that fans will have faster access than ever before to their favorite team's game highlights and other NFL content.
Noted Avail-TVN chief revenue officer Jim Riley: "VOD has become a vital tool for distributing sports entertainment and changing the aspect of game viewing itself. NFLN is a leader in the industry when it comes to advanced asset management and our partnership ensures that Avail-TVN will continue to be the main provider for managing their VOD offering."
