CableLabs is hammering away on acceptance test plans (ATPs) for DOCSIS 3.1 equipment, and widespread deployments of the super-speedy technology is likely two to three years away, but at least one testing vendor is trying to stay ahead of the curve. Way ahead.
Averna, a maker of test systems for device-makers, has booted up an “early adopter program” for the Jupiter 310, a design verification system that will be tailored for DOCSIS 3.1, the budding spec that will spur on cable’s all-IP migration and support capacities of up to 10 Gbps in the downstream direction.
Targeted to equipment makers and chipset manufacturers, the Jupiter platform is designed for automated physical layer testing.
Companies that pursue the program will get early access to the Jupiter 310 design verification system design document, the “possibility” of participating in the design review process, and the chance to be among the first to validate the DOCSIS 3.1 PHY ATP and get a “preferential price” on the system, which bakes in its DOCSIS protocol analyzer, signal generator/analyzer, RF interface unit, a cable mode termination system, and an upstream trigger card.
