New York -- Rainbow Media Sports Holdings executive vice president Michael Bair will take over the position of senior vice president of corporate marketing at Cablevision Systems Corp., sources close to the matter said.
Representatives from Rainbow Sports and Cablevision could not be reached for comment at press time.
Bair, reached late last week, said the transition from Rainbow to Cablevision will happen over a two-month period.
"At Rainbow, we broadened the SportsChannel brand in an aggressive and artistic manner, and we had a unified, cohesive brand strategy that embodied our commitment to bring the local teams to our customers," Bair said. "[Cablevision CEO Charles Dolan] has brought the same customer focus to Cablevision, so it's a natural transition for me to do the same thing in terms of customer relations and the development of the brand."
As executive vice president of Rainbow Sports, Bair headed the operations of the former SC regional networks, which were renamed under the Fox Sports banner after the Fox/Rainbow mega-merger last year. Bair began his association with Rainbow in 1990 as general manager of SC Bay Area, and he was named senior vice president of SC New York in 1994.
