Bam! Food Network Closes Lid On ‘Emeril Live’

Food Network is taking one-time signature show Emeril Live off its menu.

The show, which has been on the Scripps Networks’ service 1997, will tape its last episode on Dec. 11, with encores of the Emeril Lagasse-starrer expected to remain on the schedule for some time.

Food will continue to produce Essence of Emeril, its daily, in-studio show and air other specials with Lagasse.

The cancellation of Emeril Live follows Food’s moving of the show in July from its 8 p.m. primetime slot to 7 p.m.

In a statement, network officials said Lagasse will still play a prominent role at the channel: “Food Network and Emeril have a strong, immensely positive relationship, working together since the network's inception. We love Emeril and look forward to working with him for years to come. Emeril is under contract and still fully with Food Network. Essence of Emeril will continue production and we will pursue specials and other development opportunities in the future.

Noted Lagasse: “Emeril Live has been a wonderful experience over the past 10 years. I am deeply appreciative to all the unbelievable staff -- many who have been with the show since the beginning - and all the loyal viewers, and the many talented guests who have appeared on the show through the years. I look forward to continuing my association with the Food Network with the Essence of Emeril, and I have lots of new ideas cooking.”
