A Comcast Corp. technician was shot Wednesday morning after two men allegedly
tried to rob a bank in South Philadelphia.
The unnamed Comcast employee was in stable but serious condition following
surgery to remove bullet fragments, a spokeswoman at Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital said Wednesday night.
The shooting occurred after two men armed with assault rifles held up a PNC
Bank branch around 11 a.m., according to AP. As one of the suspects fled the
bank in a Chevrolet Lumina, the car rear-ended a Comcast van, and one of the
suspects shot the driver, police inspector William Colarulo said.
Police apprehended the unidentified man who shot the Comcast technician after
he attempted to carjack a Ford Explorer, but the second suspect was at

technician who was an innocent victim in today's tragic shooting," Comcast said
in a prepared statement Wednesday, adding that the company is "doing everything
possible to assist his family during this time."
