BBC World News Launches On AT&T U-verse

The BBC’s global 24 hour news channel BBC World News has launched on the AT&T U-verse U-300 package on U-verse channel 207 in standard definition and channel 1207 in high definition.

BBC World News has continued to expand its distribution and, as a result of this agreement with AT&T U-verse, it now reaches more than 30 million homes in the U.S. Since January 2013, BBC World News has grown U.S. distribution by almost 30%, the network said.

Colin Lawrence, director of distribution, BBC Global News Ltd, said in a release: “I’m really delighted that we are starting the year with more distribution growth for BBC World News, and welcome our new affiliate relationship with AT&T. BBC World News is a unique proposition for American audiences, and our successful growth is a testament to the quality and trust the BBC brings to global news coverage.”

“BBC World News is a great addition to our AT&T U-verse line-up and we’re excited to be able to bring this programming to our subscribers,” Richard Levine, vice president of content at AT&T said in the release, which also quoted Sandy Ashendorf, EVP Network Distribution, BBC Worldwide America.

BBC World News has the largest audience of any BBC channel in the world, reaching more than 360 million households and broadcasting in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, with access to more than 70 international newsgathering bureaus, including news hubs in Washington, Delhi, Johannesburg, Brussels, Singapore and London.

BBC World News’ sister entertainment TV channel BBC America is already available on AT&T’s U-200 package on U-verse channel 1122 in high definition and 122 in standard definition.
