New York -- Cahners Business Information announced that
William McGorry, group vice president and veteran publisher of broadcast, cable and
consumer-electronics magazines, will direct Cahners' Broadcasting & Cable magazine
and related titles.
McGorry's communications group -- which already
included cable and wireless titles such as Multichannel News and Wireless Week --
now reflects the convergence that is taking place in the industry itself.
"The boundaries between telephony, traditional
broadcasting and cable are blurring," McGorry said. "Today, it's all
television and delivery of broadband services. Cahners, the leading information provider,
will continue to serve these individual markets and will evolve with the industry as these
technologies come together."
McGorry succeeds Peggy Conlon, who is leaving her post at
Cahners as group vice president of the Broadcasting & Cable group to become the
CEO of the Advertising Council of New York.
McGorry brings a wealth of experience to his expanded role,
having worked for 20 years in broadcast, cable and consumer-electronics publishing.
Previously, McGorry was group publisher of Multichannel
News, Chilton Publishing, a Capital Cities/ABC company; group publisher for
International Thompson Publishing Co.'s Denver-based Cablevision and CED;
publisher of Broadcast Management/Engineering; and a publisher of Mart Magazine
at Morgan Grampian Publishing Co.

CED, Digital Television, Multichannel News, Multichannel News
