Mike Judge's animated series Beavis and Butt-Head made a triumphant return to MTV Thursday night, generating 3.3 million viewers and drawing a huge young male audience.

The two infamous slacker teen boys, whose series last appeared on MTV in 1997, scored a 3.4 rating among males 12 to 34, second only to Jersey Shore on the network, and doubled the network's primetime average of men 12-34, according to network officials.

The second half of MTV's animated hour block featuring new series Good Vibes retained nearly half of Beavis and Butt-Head's lead in, drawing 1.6 million viewers, according to network officials. Good Vibes follows a transplanted Jersey boy Mondo voiced by Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon) and his best friend Woodie (Adam Brody), as they surf the biggest waves, hit the wildest parties and chase the prettiest girls while living in a California beach community, said network officials.
