Continuing its push into original series, SoapNet will launch Being Erica next month.
The series, produced by Temple Street Productions in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., follows the life of single, funny and sexy 32-year old Erica Strange who, during each of its 13 one-hour episodes. Being Erica is set to bow Thursday Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).
Delving into the quirky life of Strange (played by Erin Karplunk), the series follows a highly educated and underachieving single woman who struggles to understand why her life is heading nowhere. Enter Dr. Tom (Michael Riley), a mysterious man who is part therapist and part rogue. In each episode, Dr. Tom launches Erica back in time to a specific regret from her past, giving her the opportunity to re-live and even alter her past choices, in the hopes of changing her present.
SoapNet’s original roster currently included Greg Behrendt’s Wake Up Call, as well as hockey soap MVP and General Hospital: Night Shift, a spin-off of the venerable GeneralHospital. Southern Belles is schedule to premiere on the network this summer 2009.
These shows complement the network’s day-and-date roster of such soaps as All My Children, Days of our Lives, One Life to Live, GeneralHospital and The Young and the Restless, plus such favorite primetime drama acquisitions as The O.C., One Tree Hill and Beverly Hills 90210.
