Pasadena, Calif. -- Actress and comedian Sandra Bernhard will host a
weeklong, late-night talk show for A&E Network.
The Sandra Bernhard Experience will run Aug. 27 through 31 at 11 p.m. on
the network, and it will feature the comedian and a guest discussing a range of
topics that go beyond promotions for the guest's upcoming movies or books,
Bernhard said Wednesday at the Television Critics Association tour here.
Scheduled guests for the one-hour show include Boy George, The
Sopranos star Edie Falco and actress Mo'Nique.
While only a one-week stint, Bernhard didn't rule out a return of the series
to the network in the near future.
A&E will also bow a new reality series, Ultimate Reality, in
October. Created by Who Wants to Be a Millionaire executive producer
Michael Davies, the show will grant ordinary people the opportunity to live out
their ultimate passions or hobbies, network executives said.
Also at the TCA, A&E sister network The History Channel announced that it
will premiere its four-hour miniseries, Gold!, simultaneously around the
world in August.
The series, which profiles the history of precious metal, will debut the week
of Aug. 20 in the United States, as well as in 60 countries around the world,
vice president of programming Susan Werbe said Wednesday.
Other upcoming History miniseries and premieres include American
Classics, a four-part miniseries exploring the power and impact of cultural
icons in America, debuting Nov. 27; and History vs. Hollywood, a weekly
series examining the historical accuracy behind popular films based on real
events, bowing Aug. 7.
