Veteran business-TV editor Mark Berniker has been hired as executive producer on Current TV's upcoming The War Room With Jennifer Granholm.
Berniker comes from Bloomberg TV, where he was senior news director, after launching several of the network's new programs, including Surveillance Midday with Tom Keene and Bloomberg West, Current said.
The War Room is slated to debut nightly in January, starring the former Democratic governor of Michigan.
Before Bloomberg, Berniker ran his own multimedia production company known as Spark Global Media. Before that he was New York bureau chief for Tech TV. He also was executive editor of content for Pseudo Online Networks. And before that he was senior producer, technology, at CNNfn, leading the daily technology news program Digital Jam.
"The War Room will give viewers an inside look at the political process and cut through the campaign talking points to offer up solutions to some of the issues facing the nation today," David Bohrman, President of Current TV, said in a release. "Mark is a seasoned television executive who will partner with Governor Granholm to deliver on Current's promise to reinvent the cable news landscape by speaking truth to power and forging a direct relationship with viewers."
