BET Nets Cox Carriage Pact


On the heels of its renewal with Comcast Corp. through a broad MTV Networks distribution deal, Black Entertainment Television announced Friday that it has secured a long-term carriage deal with Cox Communications Inc.

The deal, which runs through 2009, includes distribution for BET and sister service BET Jazz to Cox’s 6.3 million subscribers in such major markets as Las Vegas; Phoenix; New Orleans/Baton Rouge, La.; San Diego; Oklahoma City; and the Hampton-Roads, Va., area, the network said.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
