Black Entertainment Television said Wednesday that the 2003 Source Hip-Hop Music Awards earned a 2.5 Nielsen Media Research rating Nov. 11.
It marked the first time BET had aired the event.
The Source Awards showcase the best of hip-hop music and culture. They were created by The Source magazine in 1991.
"BET is America’s go-to place for hip-hop, and the runaway success of the Source Awards on BET amplifies that fact," BET senior vice president for music programming and talent Stephen Hill said in a release. "We’re glad to be in business with The Source magazine and ecstatic that our first large-scale venture together was such a hit."
An encore presentation is set for Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
