Black Entertainment Television will debut a new stand up comedy series and
episodes of the comedy sitcom The Parkers and as
part of its fall programming lineup beginning Oct. 6.
The 13-episode series Coming To The Stage -- based on its stand-up
comedy series Comicview -- will pit amateur comedians from around
the country in a contest to win a grand prize of a 30-minute stand-up special on
the network, according to BET officials.
The network will also air episodes from the first two seasons of broadcast
network UPN series The Parkers as part of a cable-syndication deal with
Viacom Inc. sister Paramount Domestic Television.
Other new programming set to bow in October include music shows BET: The
Next, highlighting new music videos; Grown Folks Music, encompassing
classic urban videos from the 80’s and 90s, said the network; and The
Center, a daytime kids-targeted show offering news, entertainment industry
updates and the latest music videos.
