Billock to Appear at FCC VoIP Forum

Time Warner Cable vice chairman and chief operating officer John Billock is scheduled to discuss the company's voice-over-Internet-protocol plans before a Federal Communications Commission forum on the promising new technology.

The FCC is hosting a four-hour program on whether VoIP can offer a cheap and reliable alternative to circuit-switched phone service as more and more consumers turn to high-speed-data services. The agency is also planning to explore regulatory issues associated with VoIP.

Other panelists include Jeffrey Citron, CEO of Vonage Holdings Corp.; Carl Wood of the California Public Utility Commission; and James Crowe, CEO of Level 3 Communications Inc.
