Black Family Channel said Thursday that it reached an affiliation deal with Charter Communications.
Charter, which currently carries the African-American-targeted network in its Los Angeles, St. Louis and Lake Tahoe markets, is expected to roll out the service in other select markets, the network said. Black Family is currently in 16 million households.
“We are extremely happy to work with Charter in distributing family programming targeting the African-American audience,” said Samara Cummins, vice president of affiliate sales for Black Family, in a prepared statement. “African Americans are the medallion consumers in our industry; the segment that buys the most and uses the most television products. We welcome Charter as they round out the list of the largest MSOs that have shown their support in acknowledging their commitment to this important niche.”
