Black Family to Reunite Katrina Families

In an effort to help those displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Black Family Channel executives will fly several families from Houston Wednesday and Thursday to reunite with their loved ones in Georgia.

Network board chairman and famed lawyer Willie Gary will utilize his personal plane over the next two days to move homeless families currently housed at the Houston Astrodome to Columbus, Ga., and Atlanta to see other family members for the first time since the hurricane flooded much of the Gulf Coast more than two weeks ago, network representatives said.

Gary -- who will be joined by BFC board members and famed sports personalities Evander Holyfield and Cecil Fielder -- will also deliver thousands of dollars worth of diapers, water, baby formula and other supplies to families at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center and Thurgood Marshall Shelter.
