‘Black Gold’ Hits Sponsorship Green

truTV Monday announced a handful of marketing sponsorships for its upcoming original series Black Gold, scheduled to premiere Wednesday, June 18.

Western Union will partner with truTV through custom marketing and promotions for the first five weeks of the season, with Mutual of Omaha and Pizza Hut each sponsoring select episodes of the eight-week season.

All three companies will integrate their brands within the show’s marketing outreach to increase brand awareness around the original series.

“This is an exciting time for truTV and our marketing partners,” Katherine Johnson, senior vice president, Turner Entertainment promotions and marketing, said in a statement. “Our distinct position in the marketplace gives us the ability to offer truly customized opportunities that maximize our sponsors’ brands within unique viewing experiences.”

Black Gold, from Thom Beers, creator of Discovery’s Deadliest Catch and History’s Ice Road Truckers, follows the high-stakes world of drilling for oil in West Texas. With the ever-increasing tensions from rising gas prices and dependency on foreign oil, Black Gold goes inside the world of men who risk their lives drilling for American crude.
