Due to last week’s massive power blackout, Nielsen Media Research will delay
the reporting of national ratings from last Thursday through Saturday and it
will flag the numbers, spokesman Jack Loftus said Monday.
Nielsen will put a note on cable, broadcast and syndication ratings, saying
that they are based on a national sample that is "considerably out of balance,"
since markets such as New York, Detroit and Cleveland were hit by the power
outage, Loftus said.
Nielsen is also checking with television outlets to verify what programming
aired during the three-day period in question.
