Bowick Joins Itaas Advisory Board

Interactive TV developer and consulting firm itaas has named former Cox Communications chief technology officer Chris Bowick to its advisory board.

Bowick joins Pat Tylka, former senior vice president, worldwide sales and senior corporate vice president at Cisco Systems/Scientific Atlanta, on the advisory board. The duo will provide guidance on technology trends and strategies to cater to service providers "as they transition from a TV-centric, RF digital network to a multiscreen, multiplatform environment over an IP network," itaas said.

From 2000 to 2009, Bowick was Cox's CTO and senior vice president of engineering and prior to that was CTO of Jones Intercable. Bowick also was vice president of engineering for Scientific Atlanta's Transmission Systems Business Division, and was a design engineer for Rockwell International's Collins Avionics Division.

Most recently, Bowick served in an interim CTO at Charter Communications following the departure of Marwan Fawaz. Charter named Cox's Jay Rolls to the position this summer.

"As we complete 12 years of service to this industry, itaas wants a broader set of eyes, ears, and minds advising us on new ways to provide innovative technical solutions to meet our customers' challenges," itaas president and CEO Vibha Rustagi said in a statement. "Chris has lived the day-to-day issues a service provider faces. His experience will be invaluable in our commitment to being a trusted partner to our customers."

Privately held Itaas, founded in 1999, provides licensing for the EBIF platform to North American cable operators and offers the iLaunch Starter Kit program to facilitate the quick deployment of advanced EBIF applications. The company is based in Duluth, Ga., with offices in London, Ontario, Canada, and New Delhi, India.
