Chris Bowick, former chief technology officer of Cox Communications, has joined the board of ViXS Systems, a developer of network multimedia chips for video-enabled devices.
Toronto-based ViXS is a supplier of system-on-a-chip semiconductors, software solutions and hardware reference designs to manufacturers of digital TVs, DVD players, set-top boxes and other video-enabled devices as well as broadcast and professional equipment manufacturers.
From 2000 to 2009, Bowick was Cox's CTO and senior vice president of engineering. Before that he was CTO of Jones Intercable. Bowick also was vice president of engineering for Scientific Atlanta's Transmission Systems Business Division, and was a design engineer for Rockwell International's Collins Avionics Division.
Bowick currently heads The Bowick Group consulting firm, catering to the cable television and telecommunications industry. He also serves on the board of LiquidxStream Systems and Inlet Technologies, as well as the strategic advisory board of video-on-demand solutions vendor Concurrent.
