Bravo added to its suite of broadband channels with its acquisition of opinion-based Television Without Pity.
The Canadian-based service -- which recaps episodes and hosts fan forums surrounding top drama and reality shows -- joins Bravo’s portfolio of Web sites that includes BravoTV.com, Brilliant But Cancelled, OutZone and getTRIO.com.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Television Without Pity draws 1 million unique viewers and approximately 30 million page views per month, increasing Bravo’s overall unique viewers and page views to 2 million and 70 million per month, respectively, according to Jason Klarman, executive vice president of marketing and digital for the 84 million-subscriber network.
“It changes the Bravo digital suite of services overnight,” he added.
For the most part, the site will remain intact and will maintain its editorial voice -- including the freedom to criticize programming from Bravo and other NBC Universal-owned networks -- according to Sarah Bunting, cofounder of the site. Bunting and co-founder Tara Ariano will remain onboard as site editors.
Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick said Television Without Pity is the perfect fit for the pop-culture channel. “It’s a smart, organic, complementary content play; a site that really engages passionate television fans,” she added. “It’s for people who love to love TV and love to hate TV.”
