'Breaking Bad' Hits Series' Best with Penultimate Episode

Sept. 22 Premiere Delivers Record 6.6M Viewers, 4.3M 18-49 Watchers

As Anna Gunn was taking home the statue for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for her potrayal of Skylar White on CBS's coverage of the 65th Primetime Emmys, AMC racked up its best-ever Nielsens with Breaking Bad's penultimate episode.

The "Granite State" episode averaged 6.6 million viewers during its 9 p.m. premiere on Sept. 22, according to Nielsen data, besting the 6.4 million who tuned in the prior week's installment.

Sunday night's tally included a series-record 4.3 million persons 18 to 49, up from 4.1 million of Madison Avenue's most-desired viewers the week before. The show's next-to-last episode drew 3.7 million adults 25 to 54.
