Atlanta -- Bresnan Communications is negotiating with Sprint Nextel Corp. and a consortium of cable-system operators about adding wireless-phone service to its triple-play bundle, founder and CEO Bill Bresnan told Multichannel News Monday.
“We would like to participate in the Sprint Nextel consortium,” Bresnan said as he walked the convention floor at the National Show here with his wife. “We’ve had talks with them.”
The consortium currently includes Sprint Nextel, Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications Inc. and Advance/Newhouse Communications. Comcast kept an equity stake in Bresnan’s company after selling it systems with about 300,000 customers in 2003.
Bresnan didn’t offer any timeline for adding wireless phone to his company’s bundle, which currently includes digital-cable, high-speed-Internet and voice-over-Internet-protocol phone service.
Bresnan said 33% of the company’s phone subscribers are new customers, and 95% of phone customers take at least two products from the company. It counts 290,000 basic customers, 130,000 digital-cable customers, 105,000 high-speed-data customers and 30,000 telephone customers.
