MTVN Ups Divney to Ad Sales President
New York — MTV Networks promoted Larry Divney to president of ad sales.
Divney will oversee ad sales for MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, TV Land, CMT, Spike TV and Logo.
The company also named former MTV Networks executive vice president and general sales manager Doug Rohrer executive vice president and senior adviser to Divney. Rohrer’s duties will include emerging new-media platforms.
Divney, a former Comedy Central president, returned to MTV Networks as COO of ad sales in October, after retiring from Comedy Central to run a farm in upstate New York in June.
Divney first joined MTV as vice president of ad sales in 1981, and worked later at Cable Health Network (now Lifetime Television), Cable News Network and A&E.
G4techTV Hypes Comcast VOD
Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — NBC Universal Cable cut a deal with Comcast Corp.’s G4techTVto promote movies and video games for the Comcast On Demand release of the theatricals Van Helsing and The Chronicles of Riddick.
G4techTV will feature the video games for Van Helsing and The Chronicles of Riddick as part of its G4 on-demand content, available on Comcast systems, and footage from the movies will run on G4’s movie-games section.
The companies said they hope the promotions will drive viewers to order The Chronicles of Riddick, which becomes available on pay VOD Dec. 31, and Van Helsing, which is currently available.
