NeuLion, Inc. and Bright House Networks have signed a multiyear deal to launch a digital sports network covering high school sports in Florida.
Set to bow in August on www.baynews9.com, Bright House Sports Network will be devoted to everything high school sports in the Sunshine State. Powered by the NeuLion TV Everywhere Platform, the new online destination will offer fans access to their favorite high school sports content on multiple devicesm including PCs, smartphones and tablets.
The video will be available in real-time high-definition quality, with the NeuLion player enabling Bright House subscribers to pause, rewind and re-watch a game immediately after its conclusion and see instant highlights made possible by NeuLion’s live editing software.
Based in Plainview, N.Y, NeuLion has deals with the NFL, NBA, UFC, MLS and NHL, as its Sports Platform provides a solution for the worldwide digital delivery of live events from the aforementioned organizations to fans’ multiple Internet-connected devices.
The company, which will kick off a subscription-based suite of digital services with the Ivy League and its member schools in August in time for the 2013-14 academic year, is also providing streaming and TV Everywhere services for Cablevision’s MSG Varsity high school service in the metro New York area
Bright House Sports Network will enable parents to catch up on a game they missed or relive key moments/plays of their children’s high school career with an interactive DVR control that includes on-demand functionality and slow-motion replays. After NeuLion receives the live feed from the school, it is reformatted to work on the appropriate device and delivered to PC, smartphone and tablets.
“We are looking forward to giving our subscribers incredible, interactive high school sports experiences,” said Elliot Wiser, corporate vice president of local programming at Bright House Networks, in a statement. “High school students have always been early adopters of new technology and working with NeuLion gives us the opportunity to play off of that as we provide athletes and parents an all new way to experience the game anytime, anywhere.”
Noted NeuLion executive vice president Chris Wagner noted: "The gap between professional sports, college sports and high school sports is closing. High schools can now produce quality video commonly seen in professional sports and deliver it across multiple devices to their fans in local areas. Our partnership with Bright House presents a great opportunity to really take off with high school sports. It’s a really exciting time to be a high school student athlete and a parent.”
