Brightcove Reaches Agreements with Fox, NBBC

Internet-TV distributor Brightcove signed a deal with Fox Entertainment Group, which will use Brightcove’s services to distribute and syndicate video online.

The first Fox networks to launch with Brightcove are FX, Speed Channel and Fox Broadcasting. Under the terms of the deal, each Fox network and studio has the ability to program and host ad-supported Internet video channels through Brightcove’s network.

Brightcove will also let Fox manage syndication to Web affiliates and promote content using social-networking features. In addition, Fox has the option to include user-generated content and video-sharing features through Brightcove.

Other Brightcove customers include Discovery Communications, MTV Networks, National Geographic, The New York Times Co., Showtime Networks, CBS and Rainbow Media Holdings.

In other Brightcove news, with the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing nearly one year away, NBBC and Brightcove will offer video clips and updated information about China through a partnership with The China Chroniclesbroadband service.

Starting this month, The China Chronicles will offer to Brightcove, as well as to NBBC’saffiliated partners, a weekly three- to five-minute video package -- 60 segments in all over the next 14 months leading up to the August 2008 Summer Olympics -- featuring high-quality television segments about China.

Hosted by U.S.-based news reporter Cathleen Chang, The China Chronicles will feature such segments as a tour of the Chengdu Panda Research Center, a Beijing Hutong Tour and a visit to the Great Wall, according to Chronicles executive producer Tom Jacobs.
