The number of people watching Web video has doubled over the past year—growing from 32% of all Internet users a year ago, to 63% today—according to a survey conducted by ABI Research. into online viewing habits.
ABI’s survey found that much of the longer-form content is being watched by younger viewers, consistent with other research.
When asked if they watched long-form content in the form of TV shows or movies online, nearly half of respondents under 25 and 53% of those 25-29 said they do so at least once a month. Meanwhile, about 75% of those over 65 who watch video online said they have never watched TV shows or movies online.
ABI conducted the survey of 985 online households in the second quarter of 2008.
