Broadcom Chips Away at 1080p HD

Broadcom announced its BCM3563 chip Monday, which it called “the industry's first HD digital-TV silicon solution that supports full 1080p [progressive] display resolution.”

The vendor said the BCM3563 was designed in 65-nanometer process geometry and “enables consumer-electronics manufacturers to build complete lines of affordable high-definition 1080p televisions that feature superior picture, sound and graphics support, whether the content is analog or digital.”

Broadcom added that the BCM3563 is currently sampling to early access customers and pricing is available upon request.
